OUR STORY
Hazel Anne Farm
Producing chemical free, sustainably grown mushrooms, flowers and produce from a 30 acre homestead in rural Illinois

ABOUT HAZEL ANNE FARM
In 2016, Hazel Anne Farm was a nameless wild pasture complete with untamed woods, a country pond, and a 1926 farmhouse. That farmhouse is now home to Brendan and Lauren, first generation farmers who are lovingly cultivating a sustainable micro farm free of synthetic chemicals.
They have converted 1 acre of pasture to organic flowers and heirloom quality produce. The woods are now managed and used for hop pole and shiitake log harvesting. And they’ve built a 140 sq ft grow house for cultivating gourmet mushrooms.
After a career in the beer and hospitality industries in Colorado, Brendan’s deep ties to family drew him back to Illinois to start the farm. He brought with him a passion for both delicious food and community. Lauren, a Washington State native met Brendan through the beer industry in Seattle. Lauren completes the team’s sense of environmental responsibility and brings her own love of floral design and food.

What's next on the farm?
We always like to dream big at Hazel Anne Farm. We will continue to expand our hop yard, currently at 80 plants, to 1 acre of sustainably grown hops to supply local craft breweries.
Our shiitake yard is ever expanding, adding more logs annually. Our goal is to reach 300 logs to meet local demand.
We hope to provide workshops on growing mushrooms, wild mushroom hunting, arranging flowers and more in the near future.
